Long-Term Follow-Up of Medial Pivot Total Knee Arthroplasty: A Systematic Review of the Current Evidence

چکیده
Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is a popular treatment for end-stage osteoarthritis. Advances in understanding biomechanics have led to the development of medial pivot (MP) prostheses, which aim replicate natural kinematics. While short- and mid-term studies shown favorable outcomes MP-TKA, long-term follow-up are limited. This systematic review aims analyze available evidence on including survivorship, complications, patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs). A comprehensive search was conducted PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Database Systematic Reviews English language reporting primary MP-TKA. Nine with an average 12.4 years were included. Data PROMs collected analyzed. The overall survivorship MP-TKA 98.2% at years. Aseptic loosening periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) most common reasons revision, revision rate 0.4% each. complication 6.6%, secondary anterior pain PJI being frequent complications. reoperation 3.1%, primarily due instability. significantly improved postoperatively. demonstrates high low rates, enhanced PROMs. procedure provides reliable management osteoarthritis, offering patients function relief. Further research standardized larger sample sizes needed validate compare these findings other implant designs.

Rotaglide total knee arthroplasty: a long-term follow-up study.
BACKGROUND Mobile-bearing knee designs represent an alternative to conventional fixed-bearing implants in total knee arthroplasty. The purpose of this study was to determine the clinical results of a mobile-bearing knee implant. METHODS From 1990 to 1998, 326 primary consecutive mobile-bearing total knee prostheses were implanted in 260 patients who had a mean age and standard deviation of 66...

Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) with a medial pivot design was developed in order to mimic normal knee kinematics; the highly congruent medial compartment implant should improve clinical results and decrease contact stresses. Clinical and radiographic mid-term outcomes are satisfactory, but we need other studies to evaluate long-term results and indications for unusual cases.
متن کاملTotal Knee Arthroplasty Using a Posterior Cruciate Ligament Sacrificing Medial Pivot Knee: Minimum 5-year Follow-up Results
PURPOSE To evaluate minimum 5-year follow-up clinical and radiological results of total knee arthroplasty (TKA) using a posterior cruciate ligament sacrificing (PS), non-substituting Advance Medial Pivot Knee. MATERIALS AND METHODS One hundred and twenty knees in 80 patients who could be followed up for more than 5 years after TKA using the PS Advance Medial Pivot Knee were evaluated retrospe...
متن کاملAn 11- to 15-year clinical outcome study of the Advance Medial Pivot total knee arthroplasty: pivot knee arthroplasty.
AIMS The Advance Medial-Pivot total knee arthroplasty (TKA) was designed to reflect contemporary data regarding the kinematics of the knee. We wished to examine the long-term results obtained with this prosthesis by extending a previous evaluation. PATIENTS AND METHODS We retrospectively evaluated prospectively collected data from 225 consecutive patients (41 men and 184 women; mean age at su...
متن کاملThe early radiological follow-up of a medial rotational design of total knee arthroplasty.
The objective of this study was to investigate the hypothesis that the increased constraint of a medial rotational knee promotes earlier loosening of the prosthesis. All patients with a Freeman-Samuelson 1000 knee arthroplasty (medial pivot design), (group 1), or a Freeman-Samuelson Modular knee arthroplasty, (group 2), with a minimum follow-up of 2 years (mean follow-up 4 years) were identifie...
